DEVELOPMENT INTERN 
Goal of Position:
Assist the Development Department with projects aimed at maintaining the museum’s relationship with current donors.
Activities:
Assist with drafting and producing donor correspondence, including proposals, acknowledgements and reports
Assist with record keeping, including maintaining current donor data base (Raiser’s Edge 7), generating management reports and filing
Undertake various projects as needed
Time Commitment:
No less than 2 months
Scheduling:
Minimum 20 hours per week, Monday – Friday.  Prefer regular schedule, but can be flexible.
Qualifications/Attributes Sought:
Understanding of and interest in fundraising practices and Atlanta’s philanthropic community
Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge 7
Willingness to assist as needed in cooperative team environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail
Ability to work independently

 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
MERCHANDISING/ RETAIL INTERN

Looking for a hands-on experience in the world of specialty retail? Apply for an internship Imagine It! To-Go the Store at Imagine It! Learn everything from purchasing and receiving to pricing and displaying. Work one on one with the Store Manager and Buyer. Learn the retail software used many of the major venues in Atlanta including The High Museum and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. Participate in retail planning and ordering. Learn about conducting physical inventory. Assist with decision making. Make great contacts for the future.  Work in a fun, easy going environment making kids happy and excited about learning.  Feel good about what you do!
Goal of Position:
Assist Buyer & Assistant Buyer in maintaining and growing retail sales through creative, specialty merchandising.
Activities:
Assist with weekly floor moves & merchandising projects
Assist in unpacking and tagging of goods
Learn all aspects of inventory management
Assist with necessary office work
Time Commitment:
No less than 2 months
Scheduling:
16-20 hours a week/ flexible hours, Monday – Friday
Qualifications:
Retail/ Merchandising/ Fashion/ Business student preferred
Some knowledge of retail and display
Willingness to assist as needed in cooperative team environment
Ability to complete tasks expediently

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
PUBLIC RELATIONS INTERN
Goal of Position:

Create and maintain a strong community presence for Imagine It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta through public relations and participation in community events.

Activities:
Create and maintain media lists.
Research and draft press materials.
Help coordinate participation in community and neighborhood events and, in many cases, attend events along with staff members to share information about Imagine It!
Assist with research of newsletter and email communications to members and supporters.
Maintain records of press clippings and media coverage.
Conduct research needed for special events, programming and marketing.
Attend meetings.
Time Commitment:
2 months
Scheduling:
Minimum 20 hours per week, flexible schedule  
Qualifications:
Understanding of public relations techniques and practices.
Knowledge of basic marketing channels and how they are used.
Willingness to assist as needed in a corporate team environment.
Excellent writing skills as well as firm grasp on rules of grammar.
Ability to prepare press materials including press releases, media alerts and press kits.
Public Relations coursework a plus.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
MARKETING INTERN
Goal of Position:

Create and maintain brand awareness and help to increase admissions and membership at Imagine It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta through marketing and promotions activities and participation in community events.

Activities:
Conduct research needed for special events, programming and marketing
Help coordinate printing and mailing of marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, and coupons.
Assist in planning and coordination of in-house promotional event
Represents Museum at offsite festivals and events.
Assists in logging and tracking auction donations, promotions/coupons, and ticket trades Researches membership, marketing, and promotions activities at other venues to ensure competitiveness of Museum offerings
Help prepare monthly membership mailings.
With marketing team, help in planning and hosting of special member events
Time Commitment:
2 months
Scheduling:
Minimum 20 hours per week, flexible schedule  
Qualifications:
Understanding of marketing techniques and practices.
Knowledge of basic marketing channels and how they are used.
Willingness to assist as needed in a corporate team environment.
Exceptional communication and customer service skills, experience in customer service and/or sales a plus.
Marketing coursework a plus.

Goal of Position:
Assist with the planning and implementation of special events that support the programs and mission of Imagine It! The Children's Museum of Atlanta, while raising awareness and often raising funds for the museum.
Activities:
Strategic event planning for both tactical and creative aspects.
Assist in research of event vendors and event budgeting.
Manage marketing tactics for various events.
Draft event marketing and publicity materials.
Work with volunteers to implement actual events.
Creative brainstorming of event ideas and forward planning.
Assistance with event wrap-up and evaluation process.
Time Commitment:
Minimum 2 months
Scheduling:
Minimum 20 hours per week, flexible schedule  
Qualifications/Attributes Sought:
Knowledge and experience in event planning.
Willingness to assist as needed in a cooperative team environment.

Goal of Position:
Assist the Accounting Department with management implemented projects and maintaining the integrity of the museum’s financial records.
Activities:
Bank reconciliations
General ledger review for account code reclassifications
Filing
Reconciliation of parallel databases
Inventory and/or tagging fixed assets
Time Commitment:
8 hours per month
Scheduling:
Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. 4-hour shift. Prefer regularly scheduled shift.
Qualifications/Attributes Sought:
Thorough knowledge of accounting and administrative processes
Working knowledge of Excel
Working knowledge of Financial Edge and/or Raiser’s Edge a plus
Associate degree in accounting and/or a 2-year minimum in an audit/accounting firm a plus
