VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
VISITOR SERVICES

Goal of Position

To ensure the safety of our visitors and to maintain the cleanliness of the various zones, while providing excellent customer service.

Activities/Responsibilities

  • Get visitors ready to paint the wall, build sand castles, and assist in the grocery store. Help the children fish for letters, numbers and swordfish, help water the garden and plant flowers.
  • Assist Visitor Services Staff with restocking grocery store shelves, cleaning the paint wall, reorganizing costumes, ensuring children have sufficient balls for the ball machine.

Available Shifts (3 hour shifts)

  • Shift 1: Monday - Friday 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
  • Shift 2: Monday - Friday 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • Shift 3: Saturday - Sunday 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
  • Shift 4: Saturday - Sunday 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • Shift 5: Saturday - Sunday 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Shift 6: Saturday - Sunday 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

PAYDAY PLAYDAY

This special field trip program, sponsored by A.G. Edwards, is designed to provide Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students with a foundation for financial literacy by presenting activities that teach kids to earn, spend, and say money wisely. This program supports Georgia Performance Standards and educational objectives.

Goal of Position

To work as a banker with school children teaching about the importance of earning, spending, and saving their money.

Activities/Responsibilities

  • Bankers dress up, set up and man a sales cart, and they help the Museum’s Imaginator staff conduct the Payday Playday program by selling small items to children, who can use play money to buy toys, school supplies, or save for their piggy bank. (Afterwards the Imaginators perform a fun and engaging song summarizing the experience and the lessons involved.)

Available Shifts

  • Shift 1: Every other Friday, during the school year from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Goal of Position

To assist with various activities during fundraising and awareness events. Events include community festivals and fairs, fundraising events, marketing and awareness events, and Educator events.

Activities/Responsibilities

  • Act as spokesperson, sharing information about the Museum and its programs
  • Set-up and clean-up for events
  • Assist with event games or activities - child arts and crafts, e.g.

Available Shifts
Annual Events - Evening Events

  • Amuse’UM Fundraising Event – February
  • Halloween Party – October
  • Two Member Events throughout the year
  • Educator Event – January and October

Qualifications/Attributes Sought

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of Museum and its programs
  • Outgoing personality
  • Some tasks may require physical activities such as moving tables and chairs


MEMBERSHIPS

Goal of Position

To assist with the development and execution of Museum memberships.

Activities/Responsibilities

  • Inform visitors of all membership opportunities and benefits
  • Sell memberships
  • Prepare membership information for mail outs
  • Help with monthly renewal mail outs

Available Shifts (3 hour shifts)

  • Flexible Monday – Friday shifts
  • Some weekend shifts available

STORY TIME READER

Goal of Position

To provide exceptional programming for our young visitors.

Activities/Responsibilities

  • Select from approved books and read to our young visitors
  • Use puppets or props, if available, to enhance story time

Available Shifts (1-3 hour shifts)

  • Shift 1: Monday – Friday 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Shift 2: Saturday – Sunday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
